About

We would like to offer a personal welcome to the Medical Research Institute (MRI), within the Medical School at the University of Dundee.

The objective of the MRI undertake research from molecules to populations to identify mechanisms underlying major diseases, translate fundamental discoveries between the laboratory and the clinic to develop stratified/personalised medicine to improve diagnosis and treatment of disease thereby improving health.

We are recognised for our world class research strengths in cancer, cardiovascular disease & diabetes, informatics & public health, neuroscience and imaging. At RAE2008, 65% of our research activity was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent, placing us 4th in the UK.

The MRI provides state of the art infrastructure for research, including a number of excellent core facilities to create an inspiring and collaborative environment for multidisciplinary research. We greatly benefit from a close working relationship with the Schhol of Life Sciences and NHS Tayside and many other stakeholders including research councils, medical charities, industry and government agencies.

We have a strong relationship with the local population in Tayside and we are very grateful for their support for our research.

With very best wishes
