Dean of Medicine
Gary Mires is Professor of Obstetrics and Undergraduate Teaching Dean in the School of Medicine, University of Dundee, and an Honorary Consultant Obstetrician at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School.
He graduated from Dundee in 1983 and has had the privilege of spending his professional career in Tayside. He was awarded his MD in 1994 with a thesis entitled ‘A study of cerebral pathology in the pre-term infant and associated peripartum antecedents’. He has been a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) since 1988 and was made a Fellow in 2000. He gained Membership of the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education in 2001 and awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2007.
