Cancer Prevention and Screening

Our research in cancer prevention and screening aims to understand the environmental and behavioural factors that influence cancer and to improve early detection and diagnosis.

Professor Annie Anderson's main interests lie in understanding factors that influence the promotion of lifestyle change (principally diet and obesity) and the impact of theory-based, behaviourally-focused dietary and obesity interventions (policy, practice and individual) in relation to disease risk reduction.

Professor Robert (Bob) Steele drove the clinical trials that led to bowel cancer screening throughout the UK. He is Director of the Scottish Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme that is at the forefront of public health intervention.
