The University of Dundee enjoys an international reputation for excellence that attracts top-class students and academics from across the world – with over 140 countries represented in the University community.
We are seeking an experienced statistician or epidemiologist with in-depth knowledge of analytical methods in large health record data sets to join the SCI-Diabetes group (http://www.sci-diabetes.scot.nhs.uk/). This consists of a multidisciplinary team of diabetes researchers with a strong record in genetic epidemiology, health informatics and clinical trials. The purpose of this post is to work with Professors McCrimmon and Pearson, and the SDRN Epidemiology Group on a number of studies that will utilise SCI-Diabetes – a fully integrated shared electronic patient record that supports the treatment in NHS Scotland of approximately 280,000 patients with Diabetes. There are very large data sets available within Dundee and this post offers a fantastic opportunity for practical application of statistical methods, and will result in extensive publication.
This is a PhD level role. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in a numerate discipline, i.e. statistics, mathematics, epidemiology or equivalent.
Potential applicants are encouraged to have an informal discussion about the post with Professor Ewan Pearson email@example.com or Professor Rory McCrimmon firstname.lastname@example.org
